Chicken Salted Egg Yolk Rissoles Filling

Chicken Salted Egg Yolk Rissoles

Inspired by the popular menu Chicken Salted Egg Yolk, I wanted to recreate it in a form of Rissoles.

Unlike the first Chicken Veggie Rissoles, this product does not contain any vegetables. The main ingredients are potatoes and minced chicken. To balance out the taste of Salted Egg Yolk, we added curry leaves and to give it a further kick, the recipe also contains cili padi. It is slightly spicy and may not be suitable for small kids. Older kids do have a liking for them though.

We use mixed orange breadcrumbs to indicate chicken flavour. However, both chicken rissoles will look the same from the outside. We can only tell it apart if we cut it in half like our combo box. Due to this reason, our preparation for both rissoles is usually separate to avoid confusion of packing and labeling.

Each packet contains 12 pieces of Rissoles.

Ideally, keep the Rissoles in the freezer at a temperature below -18 degrees Celcius. Avoid continuous freezing and defrosting. As usual, we recommend finishing the whole pack within 6 months of opening the package.

My family does not follow this recommendation. We finish the whole pack in one go.

I’ve had customers travel to JB, East Coast and even Korea with proper insulation.

One time, I lost my car keys in NSK Kota Damansara. I had 4 packs of Chicken Salted Egg Rissoles returned due to a tear in plastic. It was in the boot and luckily in my Coleman box. Long story short, I never found the keys and neither did the security. 6 hours later, I got a new set of keys and my rissoles were still safe and sound albeit a little bit defrosted. But was delicious to fry and soothe my heartache and burnt pocket.

When to have Chicken Salted Egg Yolk Rissoles

Chicken Salted Egg Yolk is a great appetizer. I fry it mostly for teatime. But you can also fry it for a really quick breakfast. Or even supper when watching Netflix or a football match.

Have a pack or two of frozen rissoles stocked in your freezer. Because you never know when unexpected guests will turn up and you are prepared to serve them some snacks.

I know many moms just need a quick meal for there are always days when you are too exhausted to prepare a full meal for yourself. If it’s just you, fry one or two rissoles to just perk your energy and get through the day.

I do a lot of frying of our frozen food for class parties, PIBGs, office farewells, office meetings and have also provided for weddings.

How to consume Rissoles

It’s easy to prepare our frozen rissoles for family, guests or even customers. Defrost at room temperature or in your fridge if time is not a concern whilst you go about other tasks.

For quick defrosting when we have hundreds to fry, we use the microwave for not more than 10 seconds.

Preheat oil for deep fry with medium heat.

When the oil is ready, (the oil bubbles) add in the rissoles. If it’s your first time, work in batches if needed. Or just fry 1 rissole to get a feel of it first. Fry until golden brown (about 2-3 minutes).

Best to serve it hot. It’s already spicy, but if you are a fan of heat you can always add more chili padi. Or you can dip with chili sauce or Mayogarlic.

It’s easy, fast and obviously tasty.

The Chicken Salted Egg Yolk is my favourite flavour. My Ibu’s as well. Especially if those who don’t like vegetables, this is your go-to finger food.
